How to Become a Smart Yard?

  1. Learn the Principles: Understand the nine principles of a Tennessee Smart Yard, focusing on sustainable practices.

  2. Evaluate Your Yard: Use the Tennessee Smart Yard workbook to assess your current yard practices.

  3. Implement Changes: Incorporate sustainable landscaping practices, such as water conservation, reducing chemicals, and enhancing biodiversity.

  4. Track Progress: Document the changes made to improve your yard's environmental impact.

  5. Get Certified: Once your yard meets the standards, submit your application to receive Smart Yard certification and a yard sign!
