Become A Master Gardener Volunteer!
The TN Master Gardener program is an opportunity to volunteer to assist others and is an exceptional way to improve the community and also a great way to learn more about plants and improve your gardening techniques. Volunteer PurposeThe purpose of the Master Gardener program is to train citizens as horticultural-educated volunteers of The University of Tennessee Extension and the Tennessee State Cooperative Extension Program. Volunteers work in partnership with their counties to expand the educational outreach by providing home gardeners with research-based information.
How to Apply?
To apply, complete the application packet and email it to Melissa Ward at mward98@utk.edu by Jan. 4, 2027. Call 931-484-6743 to confirm receipt.
Applicants will be notified of their selection status by email. Those accepted will receive a secure payment link for the $200 training fee, which includes educational materials to keep.

Volunteer Requirements
Attend the Training Class

Classes are held every Tuesday from February through April.

Must complete 11 out of 13 classes
Complete Volunteer Hours

Contribute 40 hours of volunteer service to become certified.
