        Friday, April 26, 2024

10AM:      Canning, freezing, drying and fermenting.  Crystal Blankenship is a 4H/Family Consumer Science UT/TSU Extension Agent III in Cumberland County. Crystal will be speaking on various food preservation methods:

11:30AM:      Sustainable turf and turf alternatives.  Becky Bowling is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist for Turf Science and Management at UT Knoxville. 

​

1PM:     Container gardening:   Amy Dunlap is an Agricultural and Natural Resource UT Extension Agent for Davidson County. Amy will be speaking on container gardening: being able to grow plants in small spaces both indoors and outdoors.

​

2:30PM:    Pests and diseases of trees.  Lee Rumble is an Agricultural and Natural Resources UT/TSU Extension Agent for Knox County and an ISA Certified Arborist. Lee will be speaking on common insect pests and diseases of trees specifically found in Tennessee and how to manage them.

10AM:      Growing fruit on the Plateau.  Gregg Upchurch is a UT Extension Agent III for Cumberland County. He will be speaking on fruit growing, concentrating on the Plateau region.

11:30PM:      Hummingbirds.  Stephen Lyn Bales is a Naturalist and writer. He spent 20 years of his career as an educator naturalist at Ijams Nature Center and has published several nature books. Stephen will be talking about hummingbirds and what plants can attract them as an alternative food source.

​

1PM:      Meadowscaping.  Shelby Sanders is the Director of Natural Resources at Foothills Land Conservatory. She will be discussing the topic of meadow scaping: landscaping with native grasses and wildflowers.
