2011 Fall Garden Festival

The 2011 Fall Gardeners' Festival welcomed 656 registered guests from 8 states, including 31 counties from Tennessee.  Mother Nature gifted us with gorgeous weather!  Door prizes were won by Sandra Cashion, Lynchburg, TN ($50 Downtown Dollars); David Ray, Lawrenceburg, TN (subscription to Tennessee Gardener Magazine); and Connie McCleary, Riceland, TN (subscription to Tennessee Gardener Magazine).    

Mark your calendars for next year:  Tuesday, August 28, 2012!!!  Hope to see you there!!! 

Here are a few comments from evaluation sheets:

  • "The topics are the main reason we attend, plus the gardens which seem even better this year than last!  This is our second year to attend.  The event was excellent last year, and even better this year.  The topics are timely and informative."

Decorated and ready for visitors!  

Early arrivals planning their day at the Festival...note the Orange UT Field Day bags, given to each registering guest.  

Guests were allowed to taste and then vote for their their favorite melons.  Forty speciality melons were harvested from the 2011 melon trial here at the UT Plateau Research and Education Center.

Wagon tours of the UT Plateau Research and Education Center...a time to witness research happening on the Plateau!  

For the first year, vendors provided an opportunity to purchase garden products discussed during sessions.
